We endeavor to meet these objectives for both the Building Regulatory and Public Safety functions in the following manner:
- provide pre-application and general building control advice;
- register all applications, assess the charges and acknowledge their receipt within 3 working days;
- determine all applications within statutory periods;
- confirm acceptance of Building Notice within 3 working days and request any necessary further information as soon as apparent;
- provide a full technical appraisal of full plans applications within 10 working days generally and in agreed cases 5 working days;
- inspect the same day if requests are received before 09.45am and within 2 hours in special circumstances (e.g. dangerous structures);
- given reasonable notice carry out inspections in line with the builders work programmer so that delays on site are kept to a minimum;
- to facilitate ease of contact direct dial phone lines are provided together with answer phone, mobile phones, e-mail and fax services for 24 hours message and inspection requests;
- up-date information on the scale fee of charges, guidance notes and application forms available on the web-site for downloading;
- determine Initial Notices within 5 working days;
- issue completion certificates within 5 working days;
- fulfil legal requirements to ensure public safety at sporting venues and other public entertainment events;
- issue demolition counter notices within 10 days on receipt of notification of intended demolition
